Ingredients

  • 5 cans (14.5 oz each) cut green beans drained
  • 8 slices beef bacon cooked crisp and crumbled
  • cup brown sugar light or dark
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Skillet
  • Mixing bowl

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook beef bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Transfer to paper towels to drain, then crumble.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth and well-combined.
  4. Drain green beans thoroughly and spread evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture over the green beans and toss to coat evenly.
  6. Sprinkle crumbled beef bacon over the top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until sauce is bubbling around the edges and has thickened slightly.

Notes

You can substitute beef bacon with regular pork bacon or turkey bacon. For a vegetarian option, use smoked almonds or crispy fried onions. Fresh or frozen green beans can be used instead of canned - just ensure they're well-drained. For less sodium, stick with low-sodium soy sauce or use coconut aminos. The brown sugar can be replaced with maple syrup or honey for a different sweetness profile.
