Method
- Melt the unsalted butter in a large pot over low heat, being careful not to burn it.
- Add mini marshmallows to the melted butter, stirring constantly until completely melted and smooth.
- Stir in several drops of green food coloring until you achieve the desired Frankenstein shade. If using, add the pinch of salt and vanilla extract for enhanced flavor.
- Remove from heat and quickly fold in the crispy rice cereal, ensuring every piece is evenly coated with the green marshmallow mixture.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased or parchment-lined 9×13-inch pan. Press down evenly using slightly damp hands or a greased spatula.
- Allow the treats to cool and firm up for 20-30 minutes.
- Once firm, remove from the pan and cut into rectangles to create Frankenstein head shapes.
- Melt the chocolate and spread it across the top edge of each rectangle to create Frankenstein's flat-top hairdo.
- While the chocolate is still tacky, attach candy eyes to each treat.
- Use black gel icing to draw mouths and scars on each Frankenstein face.
- Optional: Insert mini pretzels into the sides as "neck bolts" for an extra themed touch.
- Allow the chocolate to set completely before serving.

Notes
For best results, use fresh marshmallows as they melt more smoothly. These treats can be made gluten-free by ensuring your cereal and candies are certified gluten-free. For a chocolate variation, use cocoa-flavored rice cereal and skip the green food coloring. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days. If making ahead, wait to add the decorations until the day you plan to serve them.
For easier handling when pressing the mixture into the pan, lightly coat your hands with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
