- Measure the dry buttermilk powder into a mixing bowl.

- If using, add the optional ingredients: black pepper, dried chives, dried thyme, and/or cayenne pepper.
- Whisk all ingredients together until well combined with no visible streaks of individual spices.
- For a finer texture, pulse the mixture in a spice grinder or food processor a few times (optional).
- Transfer the seasoning mix to a clean, dry jar with a tight-fitting lid.
- Label the jar with the date and any usage instructions.

Store this ranch seasoning mix in an airtight container for up to 6 months. If using buttermilk powder, refrigeration is recommended for maximum freshness. Remember to shake the container before each use to redistribute the ingredients.
To make ranch dressing: Mix 1 tablespoon of seasoning with ⅓ cup mayonnaise and ⅓ cup buttermilk or milk.
For a quick dip: Combine 1-2 tablespoons of mix with 1 cup of sour cream, Greek yogurt, or mayonnaise.
For dairy-free version, simply omit the buttermilk powder and add a squeeze of lemon juice when making dressings or dips.
