Ingredients

For the Corn Poppers
  • 4 ears fresh corn shucked and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Equipment

  • Large bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Oven
  • Chef's knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to preheat.
  2. Combine the cut corn, melted butter, honey, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) in a large bowl. Toss well so the corn pieces are coated evenly.
  3. Arrange the corn rounds in a single layer on a baking sheet, making sure they are spaced out and not overlapping.
  4. Bake for 15–20 minutes until the corn is tender and the glaze begins to caramelize. Serve hot.

Notes

For best results, slice the corn into even rounds for uniform roasting. If using frozen corn, thaw completely and pat dry before preparing. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days; reheat in a 350°F oven to restore some caramelization, or use the microwave for a softer texture. These poppers are delicious on their own or served alongside grilled meats at cookouts. Adjust the cayenne to suit your spice preference or omit it for a milder taste.
