- Combine soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, and water in a small saucepan.
- Add ketchup and cooking sherry, whisking to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
- Stir in the minced garlic and black sesame seeds.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it begins to simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before using as a glaze or dipping sauce.
Notes
This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. For a thicker consistency, simmer the sauce longer. For a spicier version, add a teaspoon of sriracha or red pepper flakes.
To use as a wing sauce, toss with freshly fried or baked wings while the sauce is still warm. For a glaze on salmon or chicken, brush on during the last few minutes of cooking.
