Ingredients

  • 2 medium bananas ripe but firm, sliced into ½-inch thick coins
  • 1 tablespoon halal butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar packed
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt optional

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet
  • Spatula

Method

  1. Slice bananas into even coins about ½ inch thick.
  2. Melt butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until bubbling slightly.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Let bubble for about 30 seconds to create a syrup.
  4. Add banana slices in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden.
  5. Gently flip each piece once with a spatula, being careful not to mash them.
  6. Once both sides are caramelized, remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

Use bananas that are ripe but still firm enough to hold their shape. For variations, try coconut oil instead of butter, or experiment with different spices like cardamom or nutmeg. These can be served over ice cream, oatmeal, yogurt, or as a topping for pancakes and waffles. For added texture, sprinkle with chopped nuts or coconut flakes after cooking.
