Ingredients

Base
  • Halal graham crackers broken into squares to cover pan
Pecan Topping
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1.5 cups pecans chopped

Equipment

  • 10 x 15-inch baking pan
  • Aluminum foil
  • Non-stick spray
  • Saucepan
  • Spatula or spoon

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 10 x 15-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and lightly coat it with non-stick spray.
  2. Break the halal graham crackers into squares and arrange them in a single layer to completely cover the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Melt the butter and brown sugar together in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved completely.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla and chopped pecans until well mixed.
  5. Carefully pour the pecan mixture evenly over the graham crackers, spreading it out for full coverage.
  6. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the bark cool in the pan until completely set before breaking into pieces.

Notes

For best results, use fresh pecans and allow the bark to cool completely before breaking it into pieces. This treat stores well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, making it a convenient make-ahead option for parties or gifts. Try swapping pecans for other nuts, adding a drizzle of melted chocolate after baking, or incorporating a pinch of cinnamon for flavor variation. Wrap individual pieces in cellophane with a ribbon for easy holiday gifting.
