Method
- Measure all spices and brown sugar into a small bowl.
- Whisk ingredients together thoroughly, breaking up any clumps especially in the brown sugar.
- Continue mixing until you achieve a uniform mixture where all spices are evenly distributed.
- Use immediately or store in an airtight container.
Notes
Use about 1 tablespoon of rub per pound of meat or vegetables. For best results, pat proteins or vegetables completely dry before applying the rub. For variations, add ¼ to ½ teaspoon cayenne for more heat, or ½ teaspoon orange zest for brightness. The rub can be stored in an airtight container and remains fresh for several months. Great on chicken, pork, salmon, tofu, and roasted vegetables.
