Ingredients

  • 3 cups lemon-lime soda or ginger ale chilled
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 cups apple cider chilled
  • ½ cup green apple syrup or ⅓ cup simple syrup plus a few drops green food color
  • Thin apple slices cut crosswise to show star pattern
  • Food-grade dry ice optional, for fog effect
  • 1 cup vodka or apple brandy optional, for adult version

Equipment

  • Punch bowl
  • Pitcher
  • Tongs

Method

  1. In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the chilled apple cider, green apple syrup (or simple syrup with green food coloring), and lemon juice. Stir thoroughly until well mixed.
  2. Refrigerate the mixture until ready to serve.
  3. Just before serving, add the chilled lemon-lime soda or ginger ale to the mixture. Stir gently to combine while preserving carbonation.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more syrup.
  5. Float thinly sliced apple pieces (cut crosswise to reveal the star pattern) on top of the punch.
  6. If using dry ice for the fog effect, carefully add 2-3 small pellets using tongs and gloves. Never touch dry ice with bare hands.
  7. If making an adult version, stir in vodka or apple brandy before serving.
  8. Allow dry ice to completely sublimate or strain it out before serving, especially to children.

Notes

For a less sweet version, replace half the soda with sparkling water. The lemon juice helps maintain the vibrant green color, so don't skip it!
For a themed variation, try rimming glasses with caramel and black sanding sugar for a "Poisoned Caramel" effect.
This punch can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance - just keep the base mixture refrigerated and add the carbonated beverage right before serving to maintain fizziness.
SAFETY NOTE: Always handle dry ice with protective gloves and tongs. Never ingest dry ice or allow children to handle it.
