Method
- Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly between each, until fully melted and smooth.
- Pour the melted chocolate into a clear plastic cup, swirling it around to evenly coat the inside walls. Let any excess drip back into the bowl. Freeze the cup for several minutes until the chocolate sets.
- Fill the chocolate-lined cup with ice cubes, then add the vanilla syrup, milk, and finally the cooled espresso or coffee over the top.
- Gently squeeze or tap the cup to break the chocolate shell, then stir the drink to combine.
- Enjoy with a straw, and use a spoon to scoop out pieces of the cracked chocolate shell as you drink.

Notes
For best results, quickly swirl the chocolate to create a thin, even shell—thick spots won't crack easily. Be sure your coffee is completely cool before adding or it may melt the chocolate prematurely. A clear plastic cup makes it easier to crack the chocolate shell. You can use any milk or syrup you like, including plant-based alternatives. Prepare the chocolate shell a few hours ahead and keep in the freezer, but assemble the drink just before serving for the signature cracking effect. The finished latte is best enjoyed immediately and doesn't store well once assembled.
