Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 onions finely chopped
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 packet Marcum taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon Morton's Nature Season

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and Morton's Nature Season to the hot pan. Brown the beef thoroughly, breaking it into small, even crumbles.
  3. Add the finely chopped onions to the browned beef and cook until soft and translucent.
  4. Drain excess fat from the pan.
  5. Return meat mixture to the pan and reduce heat to low simmer.
  6. Add water and taco seasoning mix. Stir thoroughly to coat meat evenly.
  7. Simmer until most of the liquid has been absorbed or evaporated.

Notes

You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option, or use plant-based crumbles for a vegetarian version. The onions can be chopped smaller or reduced for picky eaters. Serve with warm tortillas, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, and your favorite salsa. The meat can also be used in burritos, taco salads, or as a nacho topping.
