Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef sausage (kielbasa) sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 1 cup brown sugar light or dark
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Medium bowl
  • Whisk
  • Serving platter
  • Toothpicks for serving

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the kielbasa into ½-inch rounds.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together brown sugar, pineapple juice, ketchup, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and garlic powder.
  4. Place the sausage slices in a 9x13-inch baking dish and pour the glaze over them. Stir to coat evenly.
  5. Bake uncovered for about 25 minutes, stirring halfway through cooking time.
  6. Remove from oven when sauce has thickened and is clinging to the sausage with a sticky, shiny finish.
  7. Give one final stir to coat with remaining sauce before transferring to a serving platter.

Notes

You can substitute apple juice for pineapple juice if needed. For variations, try adding sriracha or red pepper flakes for heat, or swap in maple syrup for some of the brown sugar. The kielbasa can be replaced with smoked sausage, chorizo, or cocktail weiners. For added texture and flavor, consider mixing in diced bell peppers or pineapple chunks.
